Hi everyone, welcome back. Cyber security is an important area of focus. There is a whole lot of data that is being stored and transmitted digitally. This includes sensitive data that could potentially cause damage to someone or even a whole company. We will go over the various types of data and see how each one is classified and handled. The classification of the data also decides how that data is managed, accessed, and stored. Let’s get into it.

Public Data

Public data is data that is accessible for everyone. This type of information can be freely used without any legal restrictions. Examples of public data includes the news, advertisements, job descriptions, and brochures.

Private Data

Private data is any information that a person can expect to be secured from public view. Personal data, personally identifiable information(PII), and financial information are examples of private data. Data that a persons does not wish to disclose can be classified as private data.

Personal Data

Personal Data is any information that may be personal. Health and financial information can fall under this classification. Other examples of personal data includes political beliefs, religious beliefs, and sexual orientation.
