Hi everyone, welcome back. Cyber security is an important area of focus. There is a whole lot of data that is being stored and transmitted digitally. This includes sensitive data that could potentially cause damage to someone or even a whole company. We will go over some common third-party risks to help reduce risk of being attacked by cybercriminals. With this introduction out of the way, let’s get into it.

Third-Party

Many companies use third-party software and services, meaning that those pieces of software and services are controlled by another organization or individual. These third-party software and services may also bring in additional vulnerabilities and so companies will assess these for risk.

Vendors

When looking for a software provider, it is important to find a reputable vendor. When new software is bought and installed onto company machines, that software is capable of installing malware which is capable of various malicious actions. These malicious actions may include adding a backdoor, remote access, spyware, and others. Also note that if a vendor goes out of business and the software provided has vulnerabilities, that software will be left vulnerable.
