Hi everyone, welcome back. Cyber security is an important area of focus. There is a whole lot of data that is being stored and transmitted digitally. This includes sensitive data that could potentially cause damage to someone or even a whole company. We will go over some actors and what kind of roles they play when it comes to cyber attacks. With this introduction out of the way, let’s get into it.
Script Kiddies
Script kiddies are hackers that are new. Script kiddies are typically challenging themselves and seeing what they are capable of getting into. These new hackers are normally not involved with any hacking groups nor are they usually funded for any type of cyber crime.
Hacktivists
Hacktivists are hackers who are typically motivated by some social cause, like a political cause for example. Hacktivists typically target organizations or victims who are against their views and beliefs. Sometimes their goal is to make their targets ‘look bad’, steal information from them, or initiate a DDoS attack on them. They can potentially be well funded and skilled. Hacktivists are not known to be patient or stealthy.
